We are a security research group in the NS unit, CNS division, at the Computer Science and Engineering department (joint between Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg). We also connect with researchers across units through the Chalmers Security & Privacy Lab.
We focus on attacks and defenses in networked systems, with emphasis on Internet routing, blockchain peer-to-peer networks, and distributed infrastructure. The lab is led by Dr. Muoi Tran. For recent updates, see our activity report (2025).
Glad to share that we have two posters accepted at the upcoming ACM CCS 2026!
The posters are about our preliminary results on (1) measuring the impacts of hardware contention on AI workloads and (2) evading the state of the art routing defenses.

This week, we are incredibly happy to welcome Weijia and Shahrooz to Chalmers University of Technology.
Weijia completed her master’s thesis on federated learning security at the University of Manchester, and Shahrooz joins us after his PhD at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and research tenure at Cisco.
They will be working on exciting research challenges at the intersection of network security and AI. Looking forward to the collaboration ahead as we build the next chapter together!
Today, Shubham begins his PhD journey in our lab, working on network security for AI. Shubham recently earned his master’s degree at Chalmers, where he wrote his thesis with AI Sweden and published work on decentralized federated learning. We are thrilled to welcome him — this time as a PhD student!

Our lab welcomes Ilias as the very first PhD student! Before working with us, Ilias earned his Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace and worked as a software engineer at CERN. His research will be at the intersection of network security and applied machine learning. Welcome!
