PhD Position in Network Security (Blockchain preferred)

Deadline: 28 Feb 2026 (CET)

A fully funded PhD position in network security is now (re)open.

The position spans a broad set of topics in network security, with priority given to candidates interested in network-layer security challenges in blockchain and Web3 systems. While the project is not limited to distributed ledger technologies, applicants who wish to investigate how decentralized applications and emerging Web3 infrastructures introduce new and often unexplored network attack surfaces are particularly encouraged to apply. Potential research directions include identifying novel network-based threats, analyzing protocol-level vulnerabilities, and developing effective defenses to improve the security and resilience of next-generation systems.

The selected candidate must be able to start before 1 September 2026 (i.e., have completed their master’s degree by then). Candidates with potential timing constraints are welcome to reach out to discuss possible arrangements, although no guarantees can be made.
